Col. Richard J. “Dick” Wieland, USAF Ret., who served as the Federal Bar Association’s national president from 1988-1989 passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013 at his home in Lockhart, Texas of congestive heart failure. Dick’s wife Sally indicated that his health had been deteriorating for the past six months. Sally, their daughter Cari, and a hospice nurse were with him.

Dick was a long time lawyer for NASA. In addition to serving as the national president of the FBA, Dick was a founding member of the FBA’s Austin Chapter. Dick and Sally have been fervent supporters of the Austin citizenship ceremonies that our FBA Chapter has sponsored for over 20 years.
