Hon. D. Michael McBride

The Honorable D. Mike McBride chairs Crowe & Dunlevy’s Indian Law & Gaming Practice Group. Mike’s professional peers have recognized him as a Super Lawyer in Oklahoma Super Lawyers for Indian gaming, political law, and business law. He is also recognized by Best Lawyers in America for Native American law and as A-V rated by Martindale-Hubbell.

McBride is Justice of the Supreme Court of the Pawnee Nation, and is one of only two Oklahoma general members of the International Masters of Gaming Law. McBride was chair of the Federal Bar Association’s Indian Law Section, the largest Indian law organization in the country, from 2006 to 2008; he was previously chair of the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Indian Law Section.

In September 2008, the FBA named McBride as the general counsel on the organization’s national Board of Directors. The FBA has recognized McBride with a number of awards, including the Indian Law Section Distinguished Service Award in 2009 and the Outstanding Section Chair Award in 2007 and 2008. He served three terms as vice president of the Tenth Circuit and received several awards for this service. He has served on numerous FBA national committees including Budget, Nominations & Elections, Awards, Task Force for New Chapters, Professional Ethics, and judge of Newsletter competitions. He was president of the Northern & Eastern Oklahoma Chapter, and the chapter received an award for percentage growth under his leadership. 

McBride regularly speaks at conferences around the country and has had over thirty (30) articles published on Indian law and gaming issues. He has served in various American Bar Association leadership roles, including council member of the GP SOLO Division, chair of several committees, a member of the Tribal Courts Council Executive Committee and as a three-year member of the Standing Committee on Judicial Independence. He is a graduate of Trinity University (B.A. 1989) and the University of Oklahoma (J.D. 1993).
