Grants Awarded - 2013

Chapter Community Outreach Grants recipients and projects funded in 2013:
  • Massachusetts Chapter: C.A.R.E./R.E.S.T.A.R.T. Interview Skills Workshop.
    Funding from the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association helped to fund a chapter program run in conjunction with the U.S. District Court’s two probation programs. $3,000 granted in August 2013.
  • South Carolina Chapter: FBA-BRIDGE Mentoring Program.
    Funding from the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association helped to support a mentorship program for the newly developed federal drug court operated out of the Charleston Division of the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. The grant provided funds for participants’ bicycles or bus passes; recovery, educational and employment materials; calling cards and pre-paid cell phones; and basic needs. $5,000 granted in August 2013.
  • Middle District of Pennsylvania: Celebrating 50 Years of Gideon—An Educational Program for High School Students.
    Funding from the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association provided seed money for a program to educate high school students about and to promote awareness of the Gideon v. Wainwright case on its 50th anniversary. $1,500 granted in August 2013.
  • Capitol Hill Chapter: How Capitol Hill Really Works.
    Funding from the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association helped support a program designed to educate law students about the various employment opportunities in the legislative and judicial branches. $1,000 granted in February 2013
