Candidates for Foundation Board of Directors FY2020

Pursuant to the Foundation of the FBA's Charter and Bylaws, and in accordance with the notice disseminated earlier this year, the Foundation's Nominations and Elections Committee has met and considered applications for nomination to the Board of Directors for FY2020. The election will be by the Federal Bar Association National Council at its meeting on September 7, 2019. Each director elected shall be for a six (6)-year term beginning on October 1, 2019.

In closed session on May 24, 2019, the Nominations and Elections Committee met to nominate individuals to fill three vacancies on the Foundation Board. The nominees selected are:

Ashley L. Belleau
Donna Phillips Currault
Juanita Sales Lee

Petitions
Nominations for the election of directors may also be made upon petition of 10 members of the Foundation. Such nominations must be received by July 15 in election years. Nominees by petition who meet the eligibility requirements set forth in the Bylaws shall be listed on the ballot.

Members who have not been nominated for board seats by the Nominations and Elections Committee, but who wish to be placed on the ballot, may do so by delivering the following, by email, to foundation@fedbar.org:

1. a letter of application specifying the experience of the member in FBA and Foundation activities and such other information as may indicate the prospective nominee's qualifications to serve as a Foundation Director;

2. a petition bearing the signatures of ten (10) members of the Foundation; and

3. a one-page resume for distribution to the National Council.

All necessary documents set forth above must be received not later than 5:00 p.m. ET on Monday, July 15, 2019. If any required document is not received by this deadline, the application will be considered insufficient.

Elections
Election to the board of directors shall take place by the National Council at its regular meeting at the annual meeting of the Federal Bar Association. Voting shall be cast by written ballot only if there are more nominees than vacancies on the board. If written ballot is required, the ballot shall indicate how many nominees shall be elected. Votes shall be cast only for those nominees whose names have been placed in nomination by the committee or by petition. Nominees will be voted upon as a group and those nominees receiving the largest number of votes, whether or not a majority of all votes cast, shall be elected.

In the event that any deadline herein specified is a Saturday, Sunday, or legal federal holiday, the next succeeding business day shall substitute for that specific deadline.

Henry M. Quillian, III, Foundation President
2019 Nominations and Elections Committee Chair
