Past Events

In May 2015, the Sacramento Chapter co-hosted the annual Law Day Dinner. The evening celebrated the culmination of Operation Protect and Defend, which aims to connect students to the U.S. Constitution and American history. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy spoke to attendees about the importance of understanding the Constitution and Professor Laurie Levenson shared her experiences in fighting to prove the innocence of wrongfully convicted individuals.

In February 2015, the Sacramento Chapter joined with Pacific McGeorge and U.C. Davis law schools to offer a day-long trial skills training. The training occurred through the lens of a civil rights case and involved four simulations followed by judge-led discussions. Trial skills addressed included motions in limine, discovery issues, dispositive motions, direct and cross examinations, and opening and closing statements. About one hundred attorneys attended and several attorneys indicated that it was the most useful CLE program they had ever attended.
