Roanoke Chapter Quarterly Meeting

The Roanoke Chapter held its first general membership meeting of 2015 on January 16, 2015. The Chapter was treated to a timely presentation by Joshua Treece, Esq. of Woods Rogers on the Affordable Care Act, including its key provisions and the issues that confront employers and employees as several of its provisions continue to spring into effect. The presentation also touched on the cases that have wound through the Federal Courts and those still pending final outcome.

Prior to the full membership meeting, the Board held its meeting to plan programs and events for the 2015 calendar year. The Board is working on a program for its April 23 meeting, so stay tuned for details. The Board also discussed the Chapter helping with the reception which is to follow Judge Turk's portrait unveiling ceremony scheduled for April 17, 2015, so please stay tuned for details on that as well. The Board also discussed relocating future Chapter meetings to the Patrick Henry Ballroom, which will offer us a great and inviting venue and good food as Schaal's is going to close the downtown location later this year. The Board is also working to generate interest for auxiliary Chapters in other Divisions of the Western District of Virginia, starting with Abington. We look forward to great programs and events throughout 2015 and encourage all members to participate and to invite other members of the Federal Bar to join the Association.
