New Hampshire Chapter Holds Kick-off Event

In December, the New Hampshire Chapter of the Federal Bar Association held its inaugural event, featuring a tour of the Warren Rudman United States Courthouse in Concord, New Hampshire conducted by the Honorable James Starr, previous Clerk of the Court, and also featuring a technology presentation and reception. Former Clerk Starr provided an enlightening and entertaining presentation on the history of the building, and some of the unique challenges facing the design and architectural teams, with anecdotes ranging from a controversy over the statue of Justice to a revelation as to why “Spring” Street earned its name. In addition to providing an historical overview, former Clerk Starr conducted a tour through the courthouse, featuring not only the courtrooms themselves but also a behind the scenes look at the courthouse from the judges’ chambers to the library and other areas not typically accessible to the public. The current Clerk of the Court and Magistrate Judge, the Honorable Daniel J. Lynch, and his staff, also presented an informative technology presentation, featuring the Jury Evidence Recording System (JERS) and a preview of new courtroom technology. Our reception at the courthouse followed, and the event was well-attended. The New Hampshire Chapter of the Federal Bar Association is welcoming new members, and looks forward to presenting more programming and events in the spring.
