We are seeking volunteers to speak with high school classes about the Gideon case and what the “right to counsel” means in our court systems. This is the Chapter’s first year doing this program and we are in need of attorney volunteers to connect with local high schools throughout the District to schedule a time to speak to a class or classes about Gideon and its impact on the criminal justice system. We are looking to put on this program in at least one high school in each of the M.D.Pa.’s vicinages – Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Harrisburg and Williamsport. If we are able to include more schools, all the better! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact E.J. Rymsza, who is coordinating this program. He can be reached at rymsza@comcast.net.
