El Paso Chapter

Welcome to the El Paso Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. My name is Robert Almonte. I am privileged and honored to be serving as your Chapter President for this term. We are a very active chapter of approximately 120 members in all areas of public and private practice, from solo practitioners to those practicing in firms, non-profit organizations, government agencies, military branches, and local courts. Our chapter was revived in 2004 and over the past thirteen years, we have experienced tremendous growth in membership, programming, and services provided.

Our Chapter’s primary purpose is to serve the federal judiciary and federal bar by advocating for the sound administration of justice in the federal courts. To that end, we will continue to (1) award a scholarship for an El Pasoan beginning law school, (2) conduct a one-day summer introduction to federal practice for new and future lawyers, (3) coordinate bench and bar events such as Lunch with the Judges and Open Chambers, as well as (4) provide our Federal Court Practice Seminar for attorneys seeking admission to the Western District- now made more accessible as it is available through DVD checkout, (5) high-quality, monthly CLE programs, (6) social networking happy hours, and (7) community service opportunities. We will also continue to maintain our presence on Facebook to keep you informed and connected and to administer the SOLACE email network for the El Paso Chapter, coordinating assistance to members of our local legal family and those across the world during times of need.

Our monthly CLEs are usually held monthly from 12-1 in the Albert Armendariz, Sr. Federal Courthouse. When issues arise in your practice that could be addressed during a CLE, please let us know. And if you would be interested in presenting or helping to plan the Chapter’s CLEs, please contact us.

Thank you for visiting our webpage. I encourage you to come back often to keep posted on upcoming events. If you are not yet a member, please consider joining our community. If you have questions about the Chapter or would like to join the Chapter or a particular committee, please feel free to email me, or contact the Membership Chair, Chris Benoit. We would be glad to discuss with you the opportunities and benefits that membership in our Chapter affords and the many ways you can get involved.

We look forward to getting the opportunity to advance our mission with you.
